First 5k Recap & Cookie Baking Bonanza

Rewind to

Saturday

My first 5k. What an accomplishment!  We woke up around 7 to get ready and fuel up. I had a whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter and a half a banana as well as a cup of coffee. Ready, set, go!

Of course I then forgot to bring my camera but my Aunt Lisa was able to get a few photos. Run Like The Dickens 2010 – Holly, MI.

6 Picking it up for the finish line. No I definitely did not run the whole thing. I actually walked a lot. My time was 41.14 but ya know what, I wasn’t trying to get a fast time. I just wanted to have fun my first time. It was fun – except that I was sick and coughing/my throat was swollen and I was freezing. But hey, I finished and that’s what matters to me.

5 We made it!

Next year we decided that we definitely want to do the Dirty Dog Dash in MI and the Warrior Dash in NY, both obstacle course 5k’s. They sound very cool! Both are in the summer so hopefully I’ll actually be good at running by then ;)

When we got home I immediately had a cup of tea as well as some Emergen-C. I hate being sick.

And an apple….

After we cleaned up we went out to lunch at a place called Bullfrogs. I got a cup of venison chili and a large greek salad that I couldn’t even finish.

The afternoon was relaxing. There was some nap action. Everyone was just worn out hehe. Eventually we got going again and went to visit the “Always Christmas” store. More ornaments than you can imagine. 3 huge floors!

We made a simple dinner when we got back.

Sunday

16 hours of driving. First through a snowstorm then a rainstorm. That’s all I have to say about that.

Monday

I was supposed to get up a go to an open house at UNH on Monday but I had to finish up things for both a final presentation that night and thesis work.  Honestly I just couldn’t drive anymore either. When I woke up I knew right away what I wanted to make up for my snacking and lack of good food the day before – Green Monster.

Later on I ate a million popchips so that didn’t exactly go along with my need to eat good whole food. But I also had 2 clementines! Love love love them.

That night I had my last class for Programming, Planning, and Evaluation.  Our final presentation went okay I think even though it was a bit longer than it was supposed to be.  I’m so glad that class is over though. UGH.

Tuesday

I was a bad girl and didn’t eat breakfast this morning. I was in too much of a hurry to get home. I spent a bunch of time packing last night so this morning I just put the stuff in my car and left. I booked it and made it home in 2 hours and 40 minutes instead of 3 hours :) hehehe

Lunch was some chicken noodle soup. I still hate how salty canned soup is!

Then my mom and I headed over to my Aunt Cathy’s for our annual cookie baking event! We made sugar cookies and gingerbread. Something happened with the gingerbread dough and our men ended up being fatties. Oh well, they’re still cute!

I ate my fair share of cookie dough :) I just couldn’t help myself! After several hours we headed home, tired. We decided on having breakfast for dinner since it’s simple. Spinach and feta omelet, bagel-thin with Teddie unsalted peanut butter + cinnamon, and fresh pineapple. I also had an unpictured glass of skim milk.

Now I have to unpack everything I brought. I’m sure it will take awhile! Then it’s the Biggest Loser finale! I want Ada to win so bad!!!!

  1. Wow, you've been BUSY! I just love making cookies for Christmas-- especially shape cookies. Good job on the 5k! I'm pretty sure my first 5k was in 40 minutes give or take. I'll blame my short legs. :)

Glad you made it safely through all that driving!

  6. Great job on your 5k!! That's fabulous! Your Sunday sounds like mine...horrible. I'm sorry :( At least you're safe and sound now :)

The cookies look wonderful! Cut out cookies are by far the best kind :)

And BL was really good -- I haven't watched in a few weeks, but I never miss a finale! Ada looked great, even though she didn't win :(

  7. Horray for finishing the 5K! I love the hat you wore in the race! Is that leopard print? I think Santa needs to consider donning a new style this year!

Gingerbread and sugar cutout cookies are SO Christmas to me...love 'em! Your aunt's collection of cookie cutters is incredible! I'd love to bake at her house!
