Well it is another sweltering hot day in Boston. Even though my bedroom is in the basement at my boyfriend's house, it doesn't get cool and all I have is a little fan. Considering the heat, I slept really well and didn't want to get up this morning. I wasn't very hungry either when I got up so I decided to bring breakfast to work, but lo and behold 10 minutes into the car ride I was starving! My commute is about 30 minutes so I just had to deal. When I got there I made a coffee (with skim milk and Truvia) and gobbled up my b-fast. They had hazelnut coffee at work today for the first time! Usually I have the french vanilla but I was excited about the new flavor :) For food I had 3/4 cup plain 0% Chobani, 1/4 cup Bob's Red Mill Muesli, 1 tbsp crushed walnuts, cinnamon, and about 3/4 cup strawberries. These strawberries were from the farmers market again but weren't as good as the ones I got the previous week. Hmmmm.....
Work work work all morning. Busy little bee. I've got to finish the FAQ's by Monday and I'm still working on the toolkits so I've got a lot on my plate but it's good. All I can say is thank goodness for the air conditioning in the office. Much nicer in here than outside or home (both of which I'm sure are in the 90's)! I just finished lunch which was a sandwich thin (NuVal score of 37) topped with Teddie Smooth Unsalted peanut butter (NuVal score of 49) and about a tbsp of raisins (NuVal score of 87). On the side I made a salad like the one I had last night - spinach, red leaf lettuce, beets, onions, cucumbers, topped with goat cheese. Serious deliciousness right there. The whole thing turned red from the beets since I packed it last night. Be careful though, it's messy and I'm pretty sure the beets can stain?

Who knew today was a work day?
Even though I don't typically work on Mondays (and a lot of people had today off), I felt motivated to do some work today since I didn't quite finish what I wanted to last Thursday. I did sleep in really late again. I was just exhausted. I woke up for lunch but of course ate a breakfast style meal instead. I had about 3/4 cup plain 0% Chobani topped with 1/4 cup of blueberries and 4 sliced strawberries and sprinkled about 1/4 cup ezekial 4:9 golden flax cereal on top. You can't even see the yogurt under all the toppings!
Today was very much a blah, kind of relaxing day. I didn't do much at all, but I did get done the work I wanted to do. Dinner started off with a salad of spinach, red leaf lettuce, beets, cucumbers, and onions topped with some goat cheese. I'm falling in love with beets! We got these at the farmers market on saturday - I love eating local :) Afterwards I had plenty of starch with a piece of corn on the cob sprinkled with chili powder and a scoop of yuca (it's a root vegetable from south america, tastes kind of like a potato). I was stuff at the end of that.
A while later I snacked on an Edy's Fruit Bar (no sugar added!). The raspberry one is my favorite flavor. Yum Yum. I also spied my kitty being funny and chewing on all sorts of things. I missed a shot of her chewing on the base of the fan but I did get her chewing on some sort of adapter. I took it away right after the picture though of course!

July 4th Weekend: Part 2
Yesterday started out late and we ended up waiting until 3:30 for lunch. Luckily I had a peach earlier but I was still really hungry by the time we got in the restaurant.
We went to G'Vanni's in the North End. I skipped the bread this time (even though I was hungry) and waited for our salad to come. It was a simple house salad with balsamic vinaigrette. For my meal I ordered the Shrimp G'Vanni which was sauteed shrimp with whole wheat spaghetti, pesto, and flaxseed oil. I enjoyed mine but others who ordered the dish (minus the shrimp) ended up having much more oil than mine. I ate about half and doggie bagged the rest. For dessert I had a little cannoli. The picture has two but I shared :)
After lunch/dinner I went for a short walk, probably about a mile. Then it was time to head into Boston. I wanted to see Toby Keith but we were waiting around forever and I only ended up hearing one song in between the Boston Pop's. We tried to find a good spot to view the fireworks but they had blocked off the bridge by the time we walked over so we ended up under a tree! It was hard to find a spot that wasn't blocked by a tree. I munched on some peanut M&M's but no pic. The show was still really good and of course trying to get home was a mob scene. The T was jam packed but we made it back fine.
Our night concluded with a trip to Mcdonalds (I know but I was so hungry - I basically only had one meal the whole day!) where I had nuggets and fries. Today is Monday so it's back to the grindstone and back to eating healthy.

July 4th Weekend: Part 1
My oh my what a busy weekend. Yesterday started off with a leftover whole wheat-oatmeal pancake topped with plain 0% Chobani, walnuts, strawberries, and honey.
I headed straight to the farmer's market afterwards for a quick trip to pick up more strawberries and blueberries, plus beets and some flowers. Without a moments rest, as soon as I got back to the house it was off again - this time to New Hampshire. We stopped at Dunkin Donuts on the way where I got a medium iced latte with skim milk and Splenda.
I got some sparklers on our trip north :) On the way back home we stopped at Kelly's Roast Beef where I got a "small" roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and ketchup. On the side I had a few fries but was so stuffed from the sandwich I didn't have many.
The rest of the afternoon was spent playing mini-golf. I lost! It was fun though since I hadn't played in a while.
As I said it was a busy day because after that we headed to a fourth of July party. There were lots of snacks - chips, popcorn, chocolate covered strawberries, brownies. I had a little bit of everything and a lot of water.
We also lit a bunch of sparklers. Much more fun in a bunch than singles LOL
I ended my night with a glass of pinot noir.
We got home late and I was exhausted so I slept in A LOT today. Now time for more fun!

Shop Shop Shop Til You Drop
First off, a big Happy Birthday shout out to my mommy today :)
Today got off to a late start, of course considering the 4 day weekend. I made whole wheat - oatmeal pancakes for my boyfriend and myself. Yum yum. They turned out much better than last time I tried them because I realized you have to soak the oats for a little while first. Duh. I had 2 with a drizzle of maple syrup, a sprinkle of crushed walnuts, and a heaping of slices strawberries. Here's my meal with all the fixings.
Mid afternoon we headed to the mall so I could find a dress for a wedding I'm attending next weekend (my boyfriend will be in the Grand Canyon with his grandpa so I'll be solo for the evening!). Before we left I snacked on a peach to hold me over. This time it was actually ready to be eaten.
I didn't have to look too long before I found a good one. It's a simple LBD but I think it is perfect - and the best thing is that I actually look like an adult in it. I have the tendency to still look like a teenager in most things so it was nice to find this dress. I plan on wearing my leopard print heels from ALDO and it will be just right :) While we were there my bf got a milkshake of which I took a sip of course (had to make sure it wasn't poisoned ya know?)
When I got home I was starving so I made a really huge, really necessary salad with spinach, red leaf lettuce, cucumber, and carrot. For "dressing", I mixed a couple tablespoons plain nonfat Chobani with dill. Then I had a slice of leftover grilled chicken, pepper, and onion pizza.
I ended my night with over an hour of Wii Fit yoga, strength, and aerobics exercises. I should have grown up in the 80's because I love step aerobics haha.

House of Pizza
So after some work today my bf and I grabbed a super late afternoon lunch. We decided to try out Roslindale's House of Pizza because we had errands to do nearby anyway. First of all, they were so slow. We were waiting for a half an hour and it felt like other people who came in after us still got their food before we did. The pizza was pretty good though. We ordered the New York style grilled chicken with onions and peppers. I had 1 and 3/4 slices along with a Mug root beer. I'm a sucker for root beer, ever since I was a kid.
A little later we went for a bike ride on a trail near the house. In total it was about 4 miles - and very hilly! I'm planning on walking it eventually so I will take some pictures then. Afterwards I stretched it out with 30 minutes of Wii Fit yoga. Because I started out all my meals late, dinner was extremely late and I didn't want to have much. I ended up toasting a sandwich thin and putting Teddie Smooth Unsalted peanut butter on one half and strawberry fruit spread (real jam style not fake jelly stuff, ya know?) I forgot to take a pic though so you will just have to imagine the deliciousness of it.
Off to bed. Goodnight!

Team Edward
So after I left work yesterday I went to the store to pick up some goodies. I really just wanted to grab a tub of plain Chobani (yeah I just did not want the flavored ones!) but I ended up with a few more things. I was thinking I would post some scores every once in a while (like I did with breakfast the other day). So the items I picked up included plain nonfat Chobani (94), Ezekial 4:9 Golden Flax Cereal (43), Strawberries (100), Cucumber (93) and Walnuts (82).
When I got home I ended up helping decorate and prepare food for the birthday party. Quesadillas for all!
Before cake (long explanation but the party kind of got cut in half), I took a short walk around the block - 1.7 miles. I thought it would help my cramps but no such luck - I just ended up laying down with cramps and a headache and missed the rest of the party and didn't have any cake. My loving boyfriend eventually brought me some Aleve and I was feeling much better a little later. So then being an even better boyfriend, he took me out to see Eclipse :)
As you can see from the title of the post, I'm Team Edward. When I was reading the books I was really annoyed with New Moon because I didn't think Bella should be with Jacob. I don't usually read teeny-bopper books. Like I have never read (nor seen the movies) Harry Potter. ANYWAY--- We didn't get snacks at the theater since we got them last time. I came home and ate watermelon at 1am because I didn't want to go to bed uncomfortably hungry. (no pic)
I slept in today - working from home like I did last Thursday. Gotta save on gas ya know. My super late breakfast was the same as my early breakfast usually is. 3/4 cup plain nonfat Chobani mixed with 1/4 cup Bob's Red Mill Muesli topped with fruit. Today I chose 4 of my strawberries that I bought yesterday. I also had a cup of green tea because I woke up with a sore throat. Now I've got to do a lot of work today so I'm off......
When I got home I ended up helping decorate and prepare food for the birthday party. Quesadillas for all!
A few decorations/banners
Part of the quesadilla station
Chips, guacamole, and punch
My quesadilla - just 1 whole wheat tortilla filled with cheese
My plate of sides - about a 1/4 cup each guac, salsa, and rice & beans
The beautiful cake
